Around here the main culprit is humidity. Carpet absorbs moisture from the air and expands; when it later dries out it has already stretched off the tack strip, leaving a ripple that only grows with every footstep. We re-stretch with a power stretcher - not a knee kicker - re-engage the carpet onto fresh tackless strips where needed, and trim the excess so the room lays dead-flat again. Done right the fix outlasts the carpet.
Invisible patching and pet-damage repair
If the damage is small - a cigarette burn, an iron scorch, a single permanent stain - we cut out the damaged square and bond in a matching piece, often harvested from inside a closet where it has stayed pristine. With the pile direction matched and the seam heat-bonded, most homeowners can't find the patch themselves.
Pet damage is a bigger job but the same idea: we replace the pad, seal the subfloor against odor, drop in matching carpet, and deodorize the surrounding area. We keep remnant stock from our own installs whenever possible so the color and texture line up.

In most cases, no. We harvest matching carpet from a hidden spot like a closet, match the pile direction, and heat-bond the seam. The repair blends into the surrounding carpet within days of normal foot traffic.
A single room is usually done in 1-2 hours. We move standard furniture as part of the service and put everything back in place before we leave.
